FTA is responsible for the ongoing operations and maintenance of this versatile performing arts facility.The Position
FTA is seeking a dedicated and creative individual to take on the management and daily operation of our increasingly important box office operations. This full time position plays a significant role in our organization and reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications. This position offers the correct individual an opportunity to put their management experience to work and will allow them to place their individual creative mark on new and challenging opportunities. Past experience is a factor but we are open to individuals with parallel related skills.Specific tasks include:
- Building season, company, rental, and festival events within the Box Office software system
- Managing the execution of Season, Rental and Festival Box Office sales, scheduling & hiring personnel as necessary
- Training Season Personnel and Festival Volunteers as users of the Box Office software system and ensuring these and/or other staff are trained in balancing and reconciliation procedures
- Reconciling Box Office software system and cash on hand on a daily basis, including during the Festival
- Ensuring the Box Office is maintained and is clean and orderly throughout the year
- Organizing & building the company’s database to ensure integrity of patron information
- Assisting Marketing & Communications Director with season campaigns, target marketing initiatives & promotions
- Arranging discount group ticket sales & gift certificates
- Managing the sale of FTA merchandise and related point of sale transactions in Festival Souvenir Tent & year round
- Building a positive relationship with Box Office software provider and act as the FTA point person for all box office related activity (including management of software system, reporting features, data manipulation, etc.)
- Liaising between website designers/providers, Box Office software system provider & FTA IT personnel to ensure communications between systems is compatible & functioningSkills required for this position include:

- ability to work in a demanding environment with strong customer service focus and the ability to deal with a diverse group of people

Overseeing the financial operations of the organization; grant writing and reporting; researching and implementing fundraising and sponsorship opportunities and alternative revenue sources; maintaining membership records; representing CSIF interests with other member organizations including AMAAS, IMAA, CPAA, etc; administering and representing CSIF’s interests in the Media and Visual Arts building project (MaVA).
Requirements:
The Operations Coordinator acts with the mandate of the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers to administer the operations of the society. Applicants must have strong bookkeeping, accounting and budgeting skills, strong oral and written communication skills, strong administrative skills including a proven record of successful grant writing. Applicants must be computer literate, and must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team. Knowledge of the Canadian media arts, filmmaking and/or artist-run centres would be an asset.
The position is permanent, full-time (35 hrs / week) with a starting annual salary of $35,000 – $40,000 depending on experience. There is an expectation that incumbents will be available to work on Saturdays, and will attend and support events held outside of regular business hours as needed. Health benefits are a possibility to be discussed with the successful applicant.
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the following major duties:
Developing and maintaining an effective and distinctive visual signature for CSIF in all communications activities including the web site, newsletter and printed correspondence. Presenting the CSIF successfully and professionally in all printed and digital material produced by the organization. Increasing CSIF’s contact with the community & media through public relations.Requirements:
The Communications Coordinator acts with the mandate of the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers to present the organization to the public. Applicants must be well organized, have a strong design background; have excellent verbal and written communication skills, media relations and administrative skills including a proven record of successful grant writing. Applicants must be computer literate, possess good interpersonal and diplomacy skills, and must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team. Knowledge of the Canadian media arts, filmmaking and/or artist-run centres would be an asset.
The position is permanent, part-time (21 hrs / week) with a starting annual salary of $20,000 – $25,000 depending on experience. There is an expectation that incumbents will be available to work on Saturdays, and will attend and support events held outside of regular business hours as needed. Evergreen Theatre Seeking Production Assistant
Evergreen Theatre is currently seeking a production assistant for a two & a half week contract beginning January 3, 2009.
Job duties include:
• Preparation of set and costumes for touring.
• Prop repair/construction and sound equipment maintenance.
• Minor costume/set construction
• Liaise with director, actors, choreographer and technical departments.
• Assist rehearsal process; meet with all staff daily to make certain all aspects of production are being handled.

Evergreen Theatre Seeking Playwrights
Evergreen Theatre is seeking experienced and passionate Playwrights for its 2009-2010 season.
Evergreen commissions new scripts on various environmental-science based themes for it’s touring shows each year. This is a contract position with involvement from the playwright required from the initial stages of conception through to the rehearsal period. Evergreen’s approach to new play development is highly collaborative and we are seeking playwrights comfortable with this process. Pay will commensurate with experience.
Interested Playwrights are asked to submit a letter of interest and a sample of their writing along with a resume outlining relative experience and background. Experience writing in the children’s theatre genre and/or interpretive theatre is an asset.

Administrative Assistant to the Director, Canadian Voice Care Foundation
The Canadian Voice Care Foundation (CVCF) is growing and the Director needs a capable assistant to help her with the daily administrative duties of the organization. This is an excellent position for someone who would like experience in the not-for-profit sector, has an interest in the performing arts, and wants to work part-time hours. Responsibilities: Assist the Director with the day to day operations of the CVCF, including but not limited to:
- Review of and handling of incoming mail, prioritize and respond to appropriately to same in a timely fashion
- Providing secretarial support such as composing routine correspondence, preparing correspondence, reports and contracts
- Filing
- Maintain and update membership records, including contact information (postal and electronic), collection of and tracking of membership dues and issuance of receipts
- Database management for membership, sponsorship and volunteer members, as well as for the programs offered
- Update and maintain website with current up-to-date information
- Preparation and electronic distribution of newsletter Voice Talk
- Preparation of bank deposits and reconciliations
- Provide project coordination and program/services support as directed by the Director to the Fundraising/Event Coordinator as required
- Basic bookkeeping for the CVCF
- Able to organize and manage the administrative aspects to each of the many programs offered by the CVCF
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications: Must have strong organizational, administrative and keyboarding skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is also a requirement of the job, along with the ability to develop and work with databases and some experience in bookkeeping. Aptitude for website design and development, as well as desktop publishing (electronic newsletter and possible hard copy brochures) is also a definite asset. Candidates should posses a passion for the arts and an interest in a career in arts performance and/or management. Must be adaptable and flexible in order to meet the demands of the CVCF. Must be able and willing to provide excellent customer service to the clients and members of the CVCF. Young Canadians Vocal Instructor
The Young Canadians School for the Performing Arts invites applications for the part- time position of Vocal Instructor. The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede have been celebrating excellence for 40 years by offering a curriculum to maximize young talent. The students of the vocal program receive one-on-one instruction as well choral, small ensemble and recording studio training.

This part-time contract position requires an individual to work approximately 2- 6 hours per week; hours may increase depending on special events. Week day classes to commence at 4:30 and possibly some weekend hours may be required. This position offers a competitive hourly wage based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The Vocal Instructor will work under the guidance of the Music Director.
Ideally the candidates will have a versatile vocal background with relevant certification in the music field; however all combinations of experience will be considered. Keyboard ability along with an understanding of music software programs is considered a strong asset.
Individuals with expertise and interest in teaching young people the techniques of choral, vocal production, music theory and knowledge of various music periods and styles are strongly urged to apply.
