New Fashion Central building launches at February's First Thursday celebration

Fashion Central's grand opening celebration takes place during First Thursday, the Cultural District's monthly cultural crawl, on February 4th from 5-9pm.
Located in the Cultural District at Stephen Avenue and First Street SW, the retail complex will sell unique, contemporary and cutting edge fashions of both recognized designer brand stores not typically found in shopping centres, and local and Canadian designer boutiques. The project contains seven street-front shops and eighteen interior units and is the project of Encorp, the developer behind Art Central.
Also launching on First Thursday is the month-long photography festival Exposure 2010, which will open with the exhibition Counter-Photography: Japan's Artists Today at the Triangle Gallery at 7:30pm.
Alberta Theatre Projects takes part with Pizza Night with Vee, which gives theatre-goers free pizza and the opportunity to chat with ATP Artistic Director Vanessa Porteous about the first work in the Enbridge playRites Festival, Abraham Lincoln Goes to the Theatre.
The EPCOR CENTRE offers free performances by Adrenne Williands, Youssou Seck, and Cheryl Foggo in Black Rhythms: A Black History Month Celebration. Art Central showcases flamenco dance and music from Salero Calo and Fineza Flamenca Dance School in addition to galleries, studios and boutiques that will stay open late.
First Thursdays are Calgary’s monthly cultural crawl and are presented by the Cultural District. On the first Thursday of every month, arts organizations, attractions, hotels and restaurants in the Cultural District stay open late and offer special programming, deals and events. Starting as early as breakfast and going as late as 2am, the majority of events are offered after 5pm.
