The Operating Grant Program invests annually in non-profit organizations with year-round operations driven by an arts mandate, with priority given to organizations that demonstrate high artistic and public impact while maintaining sound operations. Organizations may allocate these funds to any area of their overall budget. The goal of the Operating Grant Program is to ensure that Calgary arts organizations have the opportunity to flourish in an environment with a stable base of resources.This program invests in the regular operations of non-profit arts organizations in Calgary. The following Operating Grant Programs are available for 2010:

• Professional Organization Operating Grant
  
• Community Organization Operating Grant 
• Large Organization Interim Report (For large organizations that received a Large Organization Operating Grant in 2009.  The next Large Organization Operating Grant deadline will be in 2012.) 
• Festival Organization Interim Report (For festival organizations that received a Festival Organization Operating Grant in 2009.  The next Festival Organization Operating Grant deadline will be in 2011.)

Eligibility

The Operating Grant Program is open to organizations that:

• operate under an arts mandate*
• are currently registered as a non-profit organization / corporation / society in the Province of Alberta
• have been in operation for one full year
• maintain operations throughout the whole or majority of the year
• are located within the City of Calgary
• maintain a majority of activities that support Calgary artists and/or are accessible to Calgary citizens

*In the case where organizations have multiple operation streams, one of which is driven by an arts mandate, eligibility will be determined through an assessment of the scope and level of impact of arts activities within Calgary's arts sector in relation to total organizational revenue sources. This assessment will be completed by Calgary Arts Development staff.

The new 2010 online granting system will go live few in the first few weeks of January 2010. Returning clients will receive an email with important information regarding the online application system.
